LAUM – PAUM TERRACE BOUND

LAUM – PAUM DID THE COMPLETE DESIGN AND RENOVATION OF THE FORMER LAUNDRY AND BOILER HOUSE OF THE SANATORIUM JOSEPH LEMAIRE, ORIGINALLY DESIGNED BY MAXIME BRUNFAUT IN 1937. LAURA CONINX TOOK OFF WITH A JUMP START DOING THIS BEAUTIFUL PROJECT.

Laura Coninx is a true innovator and doesn’t do things halfway. She values every room and corner, even the toilet isn’t underestimated. When you walk ‘upstairs’ it feels like this arrangement was made for this house and that any other way would be a crime to the space. The kids’ rooms look out on one side to the livingspace with floor-to-ceiling windows and tucked away in the back is a tv-room that’s used more than expected. When the space gets narrow, it’s easily solved by using custom made fixtures for their tv
and computer. Laura strongly believes in great craftsmanship and high-end material, an approach that is also the foundation of her company LAUM –  PAUM.

The main bedroom connects to the bathroom with a familysized walk-in shower and a bath that sinks into the floor. There’s no worry for privacy since it all looks out onto the private terrace.
The long hallway to the tv-room reminds us of the changing cabins at
the swimming pool, but this seems to be all show. Behind every door lies a suprise: a kids’ bathroom and an extra toilet, all finished with a glass ceiling to keep the warmth in.

Family might be the key word to this house, even as a stranger you feel immediately comfortable when you walk in.
The glass walls, vintage tone and modern finishing touches are the skin
and bones to this warm family home.

Every vintage piece in this home is found at Nome and relies on a long-lasting cooperation between Laura and Nome. We’re sure we haven’t seen the last of this house, but for now we’ve seen the goodies.
